Immune System Help

This past week, our family got hit hard. First my son was under the weather and then my husband and finally me. Usually, my husband and I generally escape the petri dish that our toddler is, but not this time. Plus, being pregnant also makes it hard to be sick ( Yes, a new Ali will be joining us at the end of Jan – another blog post of how I am supporting my system using YL oils and supplements.

Bomb OK, back to immune system. Here is what we did to support our family…..For my husband and I, we started taking Inner Defense right away. Hubby took one every few hours. I only took two for the entire day as it contains Oregano, so I did not want to over do it.

I made an Immune Boosting bomb for myself and I only put Thieves, Frankincense and Copaiba in it ( left out the Oregano). I added Copaiba for supporting over all wellbeing and helping my system recover faster.

We also applied R.C on our chest, Thieves on the foot, Frankincense on the spine. We also diffused Purification, Lemon, Thieves EO in the shared common area, not all at once, but one at a time. At night, I diffused Thieves, Purification, Oregano, Citrus Fresh, Lemon EO – similarly, not all at once, but one at a time depending on what catches my attention.

Water2 Another thing, my husband discovered  😀 is this process of ‘Steaming With EO’. Being Indian, we were used to the process of steaming when sick ( heating water up, adding herbs to it and inhaling the vapors from it by covering your head with a towel to keep the vapors in).

AsadTowel He suggested trying it with EO’s. He added Peppermint EO or R.C or Oregano to the steaming water. It very much supported his respiratory system. I tried it as well. Peppermint EO was quite intense, but it really supported the respiratory system and cleared my nasal passage. Do write if you try this method and let me know what your experience is.

We also upped the dose of NingXia Red, Vit D, Omega Oils, Elderberry Syrup and Probiotics to help our bodies recover faster.

Anish&Capsules For the kiddo, pretty much the same protocol. Left out ingesting oils other than adding Lemon and Orange EO to his water. Needless to say, he is feeling much better in no time. I am amazed at the body’s ability to heal when the right environment is provided.

This is what he does with empty vegetarian capsules – fills them up with tiny beads  :-)

Chemical Exposure

Have you heard of EWG. It is a wonderful way to get reviews on the toxicity levels in the products that you use.
I saw this article recently on the reasons for childhood cancer  :-(
Baby This is why I am so so so diligent on the products I bring into my home – from skin care, to supplements, to toothpaste,  to washing machine soap, basically anything that we use on a daily basis.
The summary of this article is that childhood cancers is related to exposure to chemicals such as pesticides, benzene and arsenic. EWG has found that not only are these substances widespread in a child’s living environment, they can also be passed on from mother to child during pregnancy and through breastfeeding (Despite this, the health benefits of breastfeeding greatly exceed the risk of chemical exposure.) These prenatal and early life exposures occur during the most vulnerable period of a child’s development.
This is one of the main reasons I like Young Living products – because they are so clean and chemical free. This is what drew me to YL when I was pregnant with my first child in 2013. I can sleep at night knowing that I have done everything I can to provide a chemical free home for my family.
Please research the products that you use in your home. In our home, we have changed all the products to make sure that they are chemical free.

Essential Oils Home Party

Recently, I helped my friend Amanda host an Essential Oils home party at her home. I actually have a lot of fun introducing friends to EO’s in their home. It is very relaxed and everyone is just having  a good time. I made some home made vegan chocolate with Bergamot EO to take the party and also took a bottle of NingXia Red to share with everyone. Who doesn’t enjoy a nice cool sip of NingXia on a hot day?

Here is a picture of my sweet pea licking the chocolate off the blender at my home as I was preparing it. Yes, I make the chocolate in a blender and stick it in the fridge. It is as simple as that. Recipe to follow in another blog.

I taught Amanda and a few of her fellow mom friends how to make lavender spray, discussed oils for immune boosting, and DIY home cleaning products. We enjoyed some lovely foods infused with EOs such as lemon bread, hummus, home made chocolate and seltzer water.

It was a lovely time for everyone including our kids who enjoyed making their own relaxing spray bottles.

For some reason, I had the rapt attention of these little ones  😉 I have seen over and over again that little people love oils. It is very empowering when my kiddo asks for Lavender EO when he falls down while playing. They have a homing instinct towards wellness in a way that we adults seem to have lost.

I actually like it when children are present. I think it is a gift to them to see the most influential people in their lives modeling self care techniques that lead towards health and wellbeing.

Here is a picture that Amanda took of Lavender spray bottles that the kiddos made. Aren’t the stickers just adorable?

If you are local, would you like to host a home party in your own home? Let me know and I’ll be happy to help you organize one. It’s fabulous fun for moms and kids alike, a great way to share the knowledge of EOs with other families.

Back To School – Keeping the Immune System Up

This second post is about keeping the kiddos & everyone in the family healthy.

In my home, when the kiddo gets sick, all things come to a stand still. So, when I found a few things that have worked this past year when he has been in school for the first time in his life, we have stuck to it like nobody’s business.

Print The first is Thieves EO. No one in our home leaves without either applying Thieves to our foot or taking a drop of Thieves Vitality with honey or NingXia Red everyday. Talking about NingXia Red, did you know that you only need an ounce or two of NingXia Red to stay healthy? We do this diligently.

I personally also need my shot of NingXia Nitro around 3:00 pm to get through the rest of my day still staying focussed. I also encourage my hubby to do the same instead of drinking coffee or tea at that time of the day.

The other things we do unrelated to oils is eat a healthy breakfast everyday – connecting as a family is important every morning before we part ways, get adequate rest, exercise. Ok, the latter two sometimes gets compromised, but since the intention is there, we at least strive for it. A healthy mind and body is needed for being ‘Mighty And Strong’.
