NingXia Red = Awesomeness

I am not a coffee drinker but coming from an Indian background, I love my ‘chai’. Not all chai, but specifically the one that my husband makes. I decided that I needed to take a break from drinking my 1/2 cup of chai that I was drinking every day for the past 6/9 months. Even though my son sleeps 11/12 hours a night, I don’t get to sleep for more than 6 hours as that is my time for getting things done. So, needless to say, I am tired by the time 9:00 am rolls around. Hence the chai was a real need….

I decided instead to substitute it with NingXia Red, we call it the ‘Ninja’ drink in our house…. It is this super delicious wolfberry drink supplement that Young Living makes. It has been specially formulated to energize, fortify and replenish the body and mind.

This proprietary blend contains pure essential oils (orange, yuzu, lemon, and tangerine) renowned Wolfberry Puree and a variety of vitamin- riched whole fruits such as blueberries, apricots, raspberries, and pomegranates. Wolfberries contribute 18 amino acids, 21 trace minerals, more beta carotene than carrots, more vitamin C than oranges, vitamin E, and vitamins B1, B2, and B6.

Gary Young had been very curious in the longevity and vitality in different cultures around the world. He started to look into the NingXia Province in China where wolfberry is grown. It is very similar to Goji berries found in India.

You just need 1-2 oz of NingXia Red everyday to help support the body as it provides vital antioxidants, helps with energy level, supplements and supports the immune system, supports normal cellular function, supports eye health and fights free radicals in our body. Basically it supports the whole body system. Hence the term ‘The Ninja Drink’ in our house.

I sometimes add Lemon EO, Thieves EO to my shot of NingXia. I add Frankincense to my husband’s sometimes. It is a great way to start the day energized. Here is a picture of my husband getting his shot of NingXia Red = #1ozofawesomeness

Back to School

So, school has either already started or is starting this coming week. Things get busy for everyone involved. There are a few things that I like to keep handy for our our family since my son is also starting a program this coming week. Yikes, when did he get big enough to go to toddler program….

Immune Booster Roll On:

Thieves : 10 Drops
Frankincense : 10 Drops
Lemon: 10 Drops
Lavender : 10 Drops
Oregano: 5 drops (optional)
Coconut Oil / Olive Oil / YL’s V-6 blend – 20 drops
Roller Bottle

Mix all the eo’s in a roller bottle, fill it up with a carrier oil and use it before your child goes to school, day care or to the play ground.  In the winter months, coconut oil with solidify, so it might not flow through the roller bottle. So, you can use the V-6 blend that YL has already made or Olive oil which will not solidify.

Thieves Hand Spray

Thieves EO – 10 Drops
A few pinches of salt
Distilled Water
Spray Bottle

Take a spray bottle, add a couple of pinches of salt, add 10 drops of Thieves, and some distilled water. Here is your own little bottle of sanitizing spray. I often use either this, the Thieves Spray or the Waterless Purifier  that YL has on my hand, my son’s hand after we are done with the play ground and he wants a snack. I use it on our hands when we use public transportation. It is a wonderful replacement to the chemical purifiers available in the market.

OK, now for some calming oils that I like to use…. I don’t know about you but having to leave the house at a given time with a toddler in tow can be stressful. So, I have this blend that I like to take with me. It is also safe for kids…

You can just use Stress Away which is a great blend on its own. I never leave the house without StressAway.

Oil Pulling with a twist

So, what is oil pulling? Oil pulling is an ancient ayurvedic method of detoxifying your body. Basically, it is done by taking a tablespoon of coconut oil or sesame oil and swishing it around your mouth for up to 15-20 minutes every morning before you brush your teeth or eat or drink anything. You then spit it out as ingesting it = ingesting the toxins. Then after brushing your teeth with a natural toothpaste, your mouth will feel unbelievably clean.

Oil pulling cleanses out bacteria, viruses, fungi and various toxins that often reside in the mouth. Since the mouth is the home to many microbial organisms, oil pulling effectively gets rid of them before they enters your bloodstream. And not only does it cleanse your mouth, it also cleanses and pulls out toxins from your body.

It has many benefits that include but not limited to a clean mouth, reducing cavities and tooth decay, clear skin, more energy, detoxing the body, and aids in over all well being. Always use organic cold pressed oils if possible. AND most important, always spit out the oil at the end of the session into your trash as it WILL clog up your sink . If you want to read more, just google “oil pulling”.

So, where is the twist. I started adding a dropThieves essential oil to my coconut oil for oil pulling. Thieves is an oil blend consisting of Clove, Rosemary, Eucalyptus and Lemon. It is a great support of oral health. Not only does it leave your mouth clean and fresh, it also supports your immune system.

I sometimes also add Lemon essential oil to my coconut oil for oil pulling. Lemon can help with detoxing and cleansing. It does leave your mouth feeling clean.

Similarly, you can add Peppermint or Frankincense  or Oregano or clove to your oil pulling. They each have different benefits. For example, Frankincense can help with tooth sensitivities, Oregano can help boost your immune system – I often add this when I am starting to come down with something. Try it and see the difference.

Seasonal Discomfort

Spring is here in New England. I have been waiting for Spring since end of Jan as this winter was so brutal. This and Fall are my favorite times in New England. Spring = beautiful flowers, sweet sound and sight of birds and who can forget our friend the pollen. Here is a picture from our walk yesterday in our neighborhood.

When we lived in CA, I did not have any problem with seasonal stuff. But here, I seem to always have a problem the moment Spring starts. Last year, I discovered how Essential Oils can help. There is a saying that I recently came across “And there is an oil for that….” and yes there seems to be an oil for everything.

So, last year, I used oils for seasonal discomfort and it seemed to help quite a bit. I took 3 drops of Peppermint, Lemon and Lavender in a capsule. You can also add it to raw local honey to enhance its effect. In addition, I also applied Lavender to my temples, nose, throat and chest every time I would go out. You can do this as needed.
