Fall Must Haves For Immune Support

Fall is upon us. This is often the time I stock up on necessities for the winter like a squirrel  😆 I really do think prevention is better than cure and work on supporting our immune system starting NOW. Here are a few things that we do in terms of diet, supplements and EO’s.

  1. Physical Activity – Movement is so important.  Any kind.. Really, if all you can PhysicalActivity do is move your arms, do that. It allows the body to detox and keep functioning efficiently. Be outside as much as you can even when the weather turns.

    Vit D
    – Related to physical activity is getting enough Vit D. We get Vit D from the sun and honestly, we don’t get enough of it.  An average adult needs at least 2000 – 5000 IU’s a day. A child needs a min of 500 IU’s a day. I like the Innate Choice Brand or Biotics Brand personally.
  2. Diet – Eating lots of green leafy vegetables and fruits will be really good for your system. I love making a smoothie early in the morning to get the fruits in. Ayurvedic system believes that eating fruits on an empty stomach prevents diseases. Also, processed sugars and processed foods are better to avoid as much as you can. We only do natural sugars like Honey, Maple syrup or Jaggery ( an Indian form of molases) that too only in limited quantities. DogSleeping
  3. Sleep – Oh sleep fairy, come and visit us every night. A good night sleep can be the cure for almost anything, right. We often use the aid of EO’s like Lavender and Cedarwood to help us sleep well.
  4. Supplements: Good quality supplements in conjunction to Essential Oils can be a huge treat for your body’s natural abilities to heal. I am going to list them in no particular order of importance. It is also important to have these consistently, everyday for you to see results.

Fish Oil / Flax Seed Oil – A good quality fish oil or flax seed oil ( for vegetarians or vegans) is a must. I like the Green Pastures brand…
    Print
Probiotics – It is a must everyday as a good gut health is key for good health. I like Life 5 from YL. But Innate Choice is another great brand.Inner Defense – Even though I don’t consider this to be a supplement, we keep this handy at all times in the Fall and winter months. They go well with the probiotics.

    Greens
    – I think we don’t get enough greens in a day. Multigreens by YL is a good supplement to have.

    Vit C –
Vit C is so helpful to keep the immune system up. I like the Chewable Vit C from Young Living. It is derived from wholesome foods like acerola cherry and is a great way to sup Print port your immune system daily. It is great for children and adults alike.

NingXia Red – I have written many posts about NingXia Red. It is that good for your wellbeing. It is full of antioxidants and antioxidants are great to fight free radicals that you come in contact with everyday. This in combination with Thieves Vitality is a must for healthy immune system.

  5. Essential Oils – Lets talk about EO’s to support the immune system through the Fall.

Thieves or Thieves Vitality – We never leave the home with applying Thieves to our foot or take a drop of Thieves Vitality with NingXia Red every single day. This is my first go to for prevention and support.

R.C. – It is a blend of Eucalyptus, Lemon etc. Smells divine and is great to apply to the chest pre and post workout or before bed time. It is especially important if you need extra respiratory support.

Raven – It is another blend that I often like to use in conjunction with R.C. I love applying this to the chest and the back while applying R.C to either the foot or the spine. It helps support the nasal passages.

Breathe Again Roll-On – Conveniently made in a roll-on bottle for easy application. Another thing Print we stock up on in our home for Fall and Winter.

Frankincense – If I have a favorite oil, it is Frankincense. It is something we use daily to support the immune system as well as for calming the nervous system.

Lavender – It has so many uses and one of them is supporting the immune system. It is a wonderful thing to apply to the lymph nodes to help them drain when your respiratory system needs support.

Purification – This blend purifies the air and so diffuse it a lot during the Fall and Winter.
I can write about many other EO’s, but this is a good check list to have at home for the winter.

A few other useful items to keep at home are Thieves Cough Drops. It is made with natural ingredients with no artificial sugars. It relieves the nasal passages and can be cooling for the throat. It is become one of my favorites. I even sometimes use it as a breath Freshener.

Young Living October 2016 Promotion

One of the reasons I love Young Living as a company is because of the generous gifts they give to members. Take October for instance, there are so many awesome promotions this month, that I am almost overwhelmed in figuring out how to write about it.

First of all, they have included a new tier of promotion for spending 100PV ( basically equals to the $) which is brand new. Secondly, I love that you get the Thieves household cleaner (a must in every household if you want to go toxin free) and Thieves Fruit and Vege Spray and Dryer balls + more

OctPromotionTier

I wanted to describe what each of these products can do.

Lavender Vitality: I love adding Lavender Vitality to my Lemonade or Fruit smoothie. It is a great way to support all body systems. One of my favorite uses is to add to a capsule for seasonal discomfort.

Palo Santo: It is a plant from South America that has been used by the Incas to cleanse and purify negative energies. It is great for spiritual development and calming the nerves. Another wonderful use that I discovered is to add it to my camping spray to have a pest free outdoor experience.

Clove Vitality: Clove is wonderful for supporting the immune system and overall wellness. It is fabulous to support oral health and adding a drop to honey can soothe your throat.

Thieves Fruit and Vegetable Spray: These days, even organic produce has residue in them. Spraying your fruits and vegetables especially when on the go can have you eating them in no time after a quick rinse. It is super effective as it has the combination of Thieves Oils + Lime Oil.

Wool Dryer Balls: Now, why can’t we just use the dryer sheets instead. The popular dyer sheets have endocrine disruptors. Read this article by Huffington Post on common household items that contain estrogen mimicking chemicals that disrupt hormones. Use wool dryer balls – add a drop of Lavender or Purification EO to it and see your clothes comes out super clean :)

Thieves Household Cleaner: You can get the squeaky clean without dangerous chemicals or synthetic ingredients. We have replaced this for all the cleaning supplies we have at home. It is super concentrated so it lasts a long time. I love non toxic cleaning supplies for the same reasons as why I WILL NOT use dyer sheets. With the skin being the largest organ which will absorb everything that it comes in contact with, I am very particular about what I use at home including cleaning supplies.

Having a small child at home, I never have to worry about whether he will get into my cleaning cabinet because even if he does, it is super safe.

For current members of YL, we have another great opportunity to get Free Gifts. If you have never been on Essential Rewards (which is the monthly autoship program allowing you to get points for all the essentials that you might normally buy – you can cash that for most products) you can get Thieves, Lemon and Digize for placing an ER order for just 100PV.

ERPromo

Thieves EO: Can’t live without Thieves in our home. We use this every day for boosting our immune system.

Lemon EO: It is super cleansing and is one of the most versatile oils I have known other than Lavender.

Digize EO: It is a blend that is helpful in regulating your  digestive system and for overall wellbeing.

Are you NEW to Young Living? Would you like to get started with Young Living and be a part of our awesome Harmony & Vitality Team. It is super simple – Just go to Young Living and add 1723841 where it asks for Enroller and Sponsor Number once you click on I have the member ID.

Just For Fun

Currently, we are in the beautiful city of “San Francisco”. Having lived here for many years, visiting it and introducing my son to the beauty of this city brings a lot of joy.

I took my son to Pier 39 where the wild Sea Lions have made a home. It is an amazing site to watch.  SeaLions One of the Sea Lion had an open wound. My 2  year old son noticed it and said ” Mama, Sea Lion ouchi – Oils – Lavender”I had such a proud mama moment. It is such an empowering feeling to know that your chid can ask for their needs to be met. He knew the power of Lavender and he related to how it helped him.

Here he is, running around Pier 39 and ofcourse it is totally freezing. Mark Twain said ” The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco”.

Our hotel room smells like a spa with the diffuser going and the all the oils that I never leave without. It is such a relief to know that I can keep our immune system up. And right before we left, the toddler decided to feel under the weather, that is life, right??? So, it was doubly important that I got all the stuff that I use for him to get him back to feeling himself.

IMG_0863 Here are just some of the items that I took with me. The diffuser is missing as it is next to the bed. The Thieves Spray is in my backpack. The Lavender Shampoo is in the shower. I can never travel without my oils  :-)

Focus and Calming Essential Oils

1 Recently, I have been getting many requests from mamas inquiring about oils that can help school age children with focus and calming. So, I thought of writing something about it. Essential Oils are a source of viable support to the human body, mind and spirit. It does this by restoring natural function  without adverse side effects. It corrects and restores proper cellular memory and can be emotionally balancing.

Of course, this in combination with clean food and environment will be the ideal set up for restoring natural balance in the system. So, definitely look at gut health and diet while also using the oils to support the child.

Here are a few essential oils recipes for Focus and Calming
Focus Blend: Cedarwood, Lavender, Vetiver and Frankincense

Cedarwood EO – 15 drops
Lavender EO – 15 drops
Vetiver- 15 drops
Frankincense – 15 drops
Carrier Oil – 60 drops ( V-6, Olive Oil, Grapeseed Oil)

Roller Bottle – 1
Mix all in the roller bottle and apply on the temples, brain stem or big toe once a day or as needed. You can also diffuse this blend – just reduce the quantity to 2 drops each.

Other Diffuser Options:

Rosemary Rosemary EO – 3 Drops Lemongrass – 3 Drops

Calming Blends:

CalmingBlend You can apply these oils to your temples, wrists, behind the ears or the big toe. These oils are mild enough to apply directly with or without dilution.

So, in summary, here are some ways of using all the oils that I have listed above…

  1. Cedarwood, Vetiver and Lavender on the back of the neck, Brain Power on the temples and Peace & Calming at night
  2. Valor on the big toe, on the temples especially during test days.
  3. Focus Roller on the temples and back of the neck during the day. Lavender of Peace & Calming diffused at night.
  4. Diffusing Lemon and Peppermint for focus.
  5. Lavender, Vetiver and Cedarwood on the big toe.

As always, just a reminder that these are only my opinions and the only Essential Oils company that I trust enough to use on me and my precious family is Young Living.
