Immune System Help

This past week, our family got hit hard. First my son was under the weather and then my husband and finally me. Usually, my husband and I generally escape the petri dish that our toddler is, but not this time. Plus, being pregnant also makes it hard to be sick ( Yes, a new Ali will be joining us at the end of Jan – another blog post of how I am supporting my system using YL oils and supplements.

Bomb OK, back to immune system. Here is what we did to support our family…..For my husband and I, we started taking Inner Defense right away. Hubby took one every few hours. I only took two for the entire day as it contains Oregano, so I did not want to over do it.

I made an Immune Boosting bomb for myself and I only put Thieves, Frankincense and Copaiba in it ( left out the Oregano). I added Copaiba for supporting over all wellbeing and helping my system recover faster.

We also applied R.C on our chest, Thieves on the foot, Frankincense on the spine. We also diffused Purification, Lemon, Thieves EO in the shared common area, not all at once, but one at a time. At night, I diffused Thieves, Purification, Oregano, Citrus Fresh, Lemon EO – similarly, not all at once, but one at a time depending on what catches my attention.

Water2 Another thing, my husband discovered  😀 is this process of ‘Steaming With EO’. Being Indian, we were used to the process of steaming when sick ( heating water up, adding herbs to it and inhaling the vapors from it by covering your head with a towel to keep the vapors in).

AsadTowel He suggested trying it with EO’s. He added Peppermint EO or R.C or Oregano to the steaming water. It very much supported his respiratory system. I tried it as well. Peppermint EO was quite intense, but it really supported the respiratory system and cleared my nasal passage. Do write if you try this method and let me know what your experience is.

We also upped the dose of NingXia Red, Vit D, Omega Oils, Elderberry Syrup and Probiotics to help our bodies recover faster.

Anish&Capsules For the kiddo, pretty much the same protocol. Left out ingesting oils other than adding Lemon and Orange EO to his water. Needless to say, he is feeling much better in no time. I am amazed at the body’s ability to heal when the right environment is provided.

This is what he does with empty vegetarian capsules – fills them up with tiny beads  :-)

SeaLions

Just For Fun

Currently, we are in the beautiful city of “San Francisco”. Having lived here for many years, visiting it and introducing my son to the beauty of this city brings a lot of joy.

I took my son to Pier 39 where the wild Sea Lions have made a home. It is an amazing site to watch.  SeaLions One of the Sea Lion had an open wound. My 2  year old son noticed it and said ” Mama, Sea Lion ouchi – Oils – Lavender”I had such a proud mama moment. It is such an empowering feeling to know that your chid can ask for their needs to be met. He knew the power of Lavender and he related to how it helped him.

Here he is, running around Pier 39 and ofcourse it is totally freezing. Mark Twain said ” The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco”.

Our hotel room smells like a spa with the diffuser going and the all the oils that I never leave without. It is such a relief to know that I can keep our immune system up. And right before we left, the toddler decided to feel under the weather, that is life, right??? So, it was doubly important that I got all the stuff that I use for him to get him back to feeling himself.

IMG_0863 Here are just some of the items that I took with me. The diffuser is missing as it is next to the bed. The Thieves Spray is in my backpack. The Lavender Shampoo is in the shower. I can never travel without my oils  :-)

Thieves Spray

Travel Necessity – Thieves Spray

I recently read this article that my friend Amanda sent to me about items that make travel easy with a child / children. Guess what was one of the items recommended in the list. Yes, you guessed right, Thieves Spray ( #17).  :-)

Thieves Spray

This, my friend is something I never leave the home without. Not only can it be used to sanitize toilet seats ( much needed when your toddler is starting to use public toilets. I am still grossed out if he touches anything in the public toilet setting), door knobs, act as a room freshener, it is wonderful for any surface that needs a good shot of clean. Another plus to this is that it can serve as a mouth freshener if you need one or even soothe your throat ( just spray at the back of your mouth)

My husband who travels a ton has become a big fan on this and insists on carrying one with him at all times. That is the biggest testament one can ever get, given how right brained my husband is.

I carry this with me not only while traveling but also for our regular day to day outings to the park or pick up after day care. It is so easy to do a quick spray of the hands and toys after play. I love it as it is non toxic unlike the popular brands available in the market. CNN wrote an article on how hand sanitizers are not only toxic but can also affect the immune system.

Another article states how Triclosan, an ingredient found in hand sanitizers and anti bacterials soaps and many cosmetics can disrupt the endocrine functioning and may also cause breast cancer. For all these reason, please please do read labels before buying any product.

This is the main reason I choose YL products for my family as they are clean and completely non toxic.
